Alfred Burgos began his working career at the local General Motors Auto Plant in 1978. Working on an assembly line did not suit Alfred very well. Something stirred in him that this was not his “calling”. Alfred returned to school part time and earned his four year Bachelor’s Degree from Brockport State College in 1984.
Out of a spare bedroom in 1991, he started a small business; BURGOS INCOME TAX. He completed a total of 40 tax returns that first year. Alfred also began a volunteer tax site for the IRS to assist low income taxpayers that same year. Alfred’s volunteer site ran for 7 years at a Latino Community service center in the North East side of Rochester New York.
In 1998 with a client base of 400, Alfred decided to move out of his home-based office and leased a commercial storefront office at 1765 Clinton Ave North. Alfred also obtained his Enrolled Agent license (federal license issued by the IRS to those who pass a rigorous income tax exam).
Beginning in 2002 Alfred began to expand his income tax services to other parts of the City of Rochester. Currently there are four BURGOS INCOME TAX offices in the city of Rochester New York, approximately 2000 clients with 30 employees serving them.
In 2005 Alfred received the distinguished Hispanic Business Person of the Year Award. Alfred was acknowledged for his business achievements and more importantly for his personal involvement in numerous community service projects.
